Did you know your body is unable to synthesize (create) its own minerals? In other words, your body is totally dependent upon outside nutritional sources for its mineral supply. However, according to Dr. Drucker, “99% of Americans are deficient in organic minerals because inorganic (toxic, synthetic, dead & inert) chemicals, pesticides, and herbicides have destroyed much of the critical organic complexes, elements, and minerals in our soils.” Fact: Depleted soils do NOT produce health, nutrient-rich plants. Fact: Crops produced in depleted soils are more vulnerable to invasion of insects, viruses, fungi, etc. Fact: Farmers use more pesticides on these sickly plants grown in depleted soils, adding to the toxic burden in our bodies, while supplying less minerals per plant than crops grown a century ago. Fact: Insects and infectious organisms leave healthy plants alone. Most of the farming methods in today’s industrialized world not only deplete our soils, but have created a cycle that requires pesticides to protect the unhealthy crops grown in depleted soils. And who suffers? We do! There are approximately 72 organic trace minerals necessary to produce healthy, nutrient-rich crops, yet the most current farming methods routinely replenish only 3 to 5 of them. And that’s only part of the problem. Inorganic (toxic, synthetic, dead & inert) ammonium-based fertilizers, along with herbicides and pesticides, kill the precious microorganisms absolutely essential to the creation of organic (living) complexes in the soil. Having eliminated these vital soil-based microorganisms decades ago, farmlands cannot produce the organic minerals and complexes necessary for sustaining healthy plants OR healthy people Replacing critical organic complexes with inorganic (synthetic) chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, etc., contributes to water pollution from runoff, and further imbalances the soils’ ecosystem and puts the quality of our food supply, as well as our health, at risk. When and how did this start? In the 1930s, when farmers began to add inorganic fertilizers to the soil, it was presumed that biological organisms could assimilate minerals in any form. Unfortunately, research has proven this is not the case. We are now learning that inorganic minerals (i.e., synthetic and “colloidal” trace minerals) cannot be easily assimilated by plants or humans. Minerals must first be combined with organic (carbon-based) complexes and elements before they can be utilized at the cellular level. No wonder our food has become less and less nutritious and lacks taste. It should come as no surprise that the modern farmer has to apply more and more toxic pesticides, herbicides and chemicals each year to ready his crop for market. Just like plants, the human body is meant to derive minerals from organic complexes, supplied from the plants or food we eat. Unfortunately, critical, disease-preventing organic nutrients are not present when our food is grown in organically depleted and toxic soils. And, just like the farmer who has attempted to alter the soil with inorganic toxic chemicals and fertilizers, we have tried to add inorganic trace minerals to our diet in the form of “colloidal mineral” supplements with devastating health consequences.
